Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20, 1964 is an American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is also the first female vice-president and the highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as well the first African American and second Asian American vice president. She is a senator and former US senator who represents California. Harris was born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then she was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected as the district attorney of San Francisco. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and then she was re-elected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator , and was a vocal advocate for reforms to healthcare, federal cannabis de-scheduling, an opportunity to become a citizen for immigrants who are not legally documented as well as the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She was well-known for the direct questioning she conducted of Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
